Product Description

Hoechst 33342 is a blue fluorescent dye that can penetrate the cell membrane and has low toxicity to cells. It releases strong blue fluorescence after embedding into double stranded DNA. The Hoechst series dyes are also commonly used for observing mitochondrial DNA due to their binding properties with DNA.

Hoechst33258 and Hoechst33342 are two very similar Hoechst dyes, both excited in the ultraviolet range of 350 nm and emitting at a wavelength of 461 nm. Both dyes are often used to replace the fluorescent dye DAPI Hoechst 33342 has stronger lipophilicity than 33258, so it can better penetrate intact cell membranes. However, in some experiments, the cell permeability of Hoechst 33258 was significantly insufficient. When used for nuclear staining, the recommended final working concentration of Hoechst 33342 is 0.5-5 μ M. In some sensitivity experiments, it is best to set multiple staining concentrations to achieve the best staining effect.
