Product Description

Tetracycline is a spectral antibiotic that targets and inhibits the growth of various Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, as well as certain eukaryotic cells. Its mechanism of action is to actively diffuse and penetrate the proton channels on the cell membrane, enter the cell and bind to the 30S ribosome, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis by preventing the transfer of aminoacyl tRNA to the receptor site (site A) on the mRNA ribosome complex. Tetracycline can also bind to the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, altering the cell membrane structure and causing intracellular leakage. These inhibitory effects can be reversed through the cleaning step, indicating that it is a reversible binding antibiotic. The resistance to tetracycline comes from the loss of cell wall permeability or the tetR gene. Tetracycline can be used for multidrug resistance, including potential side effect studies in acute pancreatitis, and as a screening antibiotic in cell biology. In addition, tetracycline can also promote the expression of P450 proteins.
